For as long as I can remember, my dad and his sisters have raced to be the first to call each other and say: “Christmas Eve Gift!” There’s a tradition there and my dad has not always been first. I remember the phone ringing from time to time as we hurried around on Christmas Eve and my dad picking up the phone and hurriedly saying “Christmas Eve Gift!” That was before caller ID.
