There was a lot to learn in 2022. Failures, successes, tragedy, loss, change, and adjustment. But as Maxwell says, “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.” What did you learn in 2022 that you can now apply in 2023? Here is my list, and you’re likely to see these throughout February if you receive our daily or weekly Inspiration. You can sign up here.
Chris Robinson has it right: “Learn a little, do a little.” Whether you’re a rookie or a veteran or you’ve been sitting on the sidelines too long, it’s time to put action to what you’ve learned. Here are some things that are front and center for me in ’23.
- Trust your instincts. You’re probably right more often than you’re not.
- Find your people. Change your circle, change your life, change your future. Get the book: Your Fab 5.
- Winning the game is not as important as how I play the game.
- Goals are only ideas. They are not plans. It would be best if you had goals, but the plan makes the difference.
- An option is an idea. A decision or choice is executable. No decision is a decision.
- It’s never too late. Don’t let that be an excuse to hold you back.
- No one or nothing can change your life for you. You have to get up and do it yourself.
- What you see isn’t what you get. Unless you believe it is.
- We are in a war, but we need to be in the right battle.
- Learn a little, do a little. ~Chris Robinson.
- Facts, risks, and truth do not cease to exist because we choose to ignore them. Simple, but powerful — and true.
- Do the ordinary things consistently. They will provide extraordinary results.
- Don’t major in minor things.
- Stop doing what you’re not good at—one of my mantras for 2023.
- Don’t fall in love with the goal. Fall in love with the things that must be done to reach the goal.
- Stop swinging at bad pitches and making emotional decisions. Short-term fears shouldn’t drive long-term fears.
- Asking the right question is better than having the right answer.
- Just because you want to or you can doesn’t mean you should. See #20.
- You get what you are looking for. (Read that a few times.) Want to know what you are looking for? Take a look at what you’re getting.
- Don’t complain about what you allow. And you are allowing a lot!
- It’s a choice: Make excuses or make progress.
- Stop avoiding the things you fear. It’s time to move past the fear.
- Stop answering questions no one is asking.
- Stop negotiating with your dream.
- Live on the other side of yes!
Which of these resonates with you? Choose a couple to hang your hat on. Write them on a post-it note, hang them on your mirror or refrigerator, and set your course for 2023. It may be simple, but it’s not stupid.
This couldn’t have come at a better time! Thank you Chip!
