And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. ~ Philippians 1:6
Three months to finish what you started. Or, start what you haven’t started. It doesn’t matter where you are in the 2021 journey, whether you’ve just begun or you can already see the finish line.
The big question: What will you do with the next 89 days? Will you fade away and finish back in the pack or will you finish strong and stand out? There is no condemnation here, just a realization that most of us set goals and don’t always get to where we’re going. Let’s change that!
Time may no longer be an ally, but you still have an opportunity to go for the gold and make 2021 the best year yet. When that ball in Times Square starts to drop on December 31, it won’t matter so much what you did in April or July if you finish strong in the fourth quarter.
If you have been lagging behind on your goals, take heart because the best part of the race is just ahead: sprinting to the finish line. But to be sure, the next three months are about character, and you will either build it, or it may become a casualty. As the great John Wooden said:
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.
One way or the other, you’re going to finish 2021. Why not finish strong?
Since we are entering the fourth quarter and the busiest time of the year, finishing strong means being shrewd and playing the game smartly between now and the end of the year.
First things first. Remember Philippians 1:6. What does God want to finish in your life? Did he start something in you that is not complete? Is it not done because you haven’t allowed him to complete it? These are all great questions that could take you to the next level or on to the next season.
God is concerned about you, and He promised in Philippians to finish the work that He began. If we use the scripture as a model, shouldn’t we finish those things we have started ourselves?
Have the goalposts moved? Your goals may have changed since January, and that’s okay. Back in January, moving was not at the forefront of our thinking. But, In April, it became clear that God was planning to move us across the country. Obviously, our goals, priorities and timelines changed, and maybe yours have too.
What is important? No, this is not make-a-list time. You already know what is a priority, and you’ll only muddy the waters with a bunch of things that can wait. What is the one thing – two at the most — that you need to complete by the end of the year?
Pull the trigger! Life generally operates the 80/20 rule. It’s 20% head knowledge and 80% behavior or actions. You probably know what you have to do, and you have possibly been here before facing the obstacle or hurdle and or the fear that keeps you from reaching a goal.
You have 89 days to change your life. Imagine yourself on December 31 with your hands raised in victory and then take the first step today.
