June 2: Faithfulness is a reflection of your relationship with God

Your faithfulness makes you trustworthy to God. ~Edwin Louis Cole.

Faithfulness is a difficult trait to live because it involves trust, integrity and loyalty. Those characteristics are primarily lost in America today. From the White House to the houses of Congress to Main Street and Home Street, trust and faithfulness have become forgotten virtues.

But here’s the deal: Your mission to walk in trust starts with how you trust God. If you don’t trust or don’t find yourself loyal to God, or if you feel that God isn’t trustworthy in your situation or faithful to you, guess what? You will find it a challenge to trust yourself, and you won’t trust others around you.

So faithfulness starts with your relationship with God and your opinion of God. That will continue to blossom as your confidence in God increases, and you cultivate your faith in God by trusting Him more each day with the little things in your life, not just the big stuff.

As you nurture your confidence and faith in God, your faithfulness in your family, neighborhood, job and church will grow as well.

Time and time again, the Bible refers to “faithful” servants, managers, brothers and sisters, followers, high priest and witness. But scripture overwhelming points out faithfulness as one of God’s greatest attributes.

  • “His mercies never fail. They are new every morning, great if your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22.
  • For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. ~Psalm 100:5.
  • “…for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.” ~Isaiah 25:1.

It is a beautiful picture of the fruit of God. God is the vine, we are the branches, and the fruit of the spirit flows from him through us to others so they can grow and live life to the fullest.

Is it any coincidence that one day, you hope to hear those words: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”? Move closer to God and you will grow in your faithfulness, loyalty and integrity.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. ~Proverbs 3:3-4.
