What if you’re wrong?

What if you’re wrong?

Don’t be so quick to answer and defend your position. Stop and think about it for a moment.

What. If. You’re. Wrong?

What if everything you’ve believed about your life, your surroundings, your country, politics, Christianity and God, your hope and dreams…are all wrong?

Things aren’t always as they seem. And right now, everything is out of whack. Sanity, common sense and sound judgement are at a premium. In other words, if you have any of those qualities, you are in the minority! Don’t believe me? Just spend five minutes on Facebook or watching the news.

Anyway, back to you. What if you are wrong?

…about what’s happening in this strange coronavirus experience?

Every conspiracy theory is running rampant right now. Sure, there are serious questions we should be asking, but there are more sinister suspicious schemes that have overtaken good people. Some are more tangled than those 100-foot long set of Christmas lights sitting in your garage.

Honestly, there’s some mysterious, messed up stuff going on. He said they knew she did that back then, but at the same time, others went behind his back without their knowledge while everyone else was watching the big event. Huh? It’s enough to make Stephen King and Tom Clancy ask for a couple of Tylenol!

But, for the sake of argument, what if you’re wrong? Whichever side you’re on. What if they are right? Then what? Does it really matter? Would it change anything for you? Would it make a difference in your tomorrow? Probably not, except to cause you to trust less and become more skeptical yourself.

It’s okay to ask the questions, it’s okay to examine and evaluate what leaders, friends and even family do, but it shouldn’t impact your sanity and your attitude. Take a step back and ask yourself the question: What if you’re wrong?

…about God? What if He speaks, heals and does care about you?

Most Americans today would say they believe in God, or a god. They just don’t want Him to get too close. And, they certainly don’t want to ponder enough that it might make them vulnerable or force them to change their lifestyle or viewpoint. Moreover, if He does speak to you, well, pfft, then that would classify you as looney bin material, wouldn’t it?

But what if you’re wrong? What if God does speak to men and women today? What if he does give real, authentic guidance and direction for your life and provide absolute protection? And, oh my, what if God does speak audibly or even clearly to your soul and spirit? What if the Bible is the absolute truth? Furthermore, what if He heals today like He did in the Bible?

So, what if you’re wrong? What if God does care about you? What if He hasn’t forgotten where you are, and what if He does have a path to your future and hope? What if there is more to this life? What if you can have victory?

What if that preacher you don’t like at that church you just can’t make yourself go to is right? And you are wrong? Moreover, what if there is a heaven, but, hmm, not everyone goes there? No one is going to hell, you say?

But what if you’re wrong?

But what if you’re wrong? What if there’s more?
What if there’s hope you Never dreamed of hoping for?
~Nicole Nordemann.

…about that dream? What if there is a dream out there for you?

Life moves at such a hectic pace today, and society has succeeded in perpetuating the stay-in-your-box mentality. “Don’t break the mold”, “stick with what works”, “we’ve never done it that way before.” Those decrees keep you in your box and never let you break out.

Routines give us security, but routines make us lazy. They are merely ruts we travel in that prohibit us from seeing life from a new and exciting perspective.

But back to the question of the day: What if you’re wrong? Many people don’t believe that God has placed a dream in their heart. They don’t think that there is a purpose for their life. Is that you? Do you think that way? Do you believe the lie that there’s nothing out there for you?

But what if you’re wrong? What if there is something unique and extraordinary that will set you apart from the crowd? Something that only you can do? More importantly: What if there is something that if you don’t do it, it won’t get done?

Face it! You know the answer to “what if I’m right”? You know what you know, you understand where you are and you may be living in the box.

Now, it’s time to explore the question: What if you’re wrong?

Now is the time to dig deep and get below the surface. Find those rooms in your heart that you closed the doors to long ago. Yes, they’re there, and you know it. Now is the time, because if you believe there’s no dream out there for you or that there is no God or you believe all those conspiracy theories…you just might be wrong.

Remember, things aren’t always as they seem. We live in extraordinary times and, frankly, we’ve never been here before. Take the time, answer the question: What if you’re wrong?

Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to tell your heart to beat again.

Tell your heart to beat again. Close your eyes and breathe it in
Let the shadows fall away, step into the light of grace
Yesterday’s a closing door, You don’t live there anymore
Say goodbye to where you’ve been, And tell your heart to beat again.
~Randy Phillips.
