Weekend Update: Marking Time on the Coronavirus Journey
2020: The funky year.
Stay tuned. Funky will continue, sports — or some semblance of it — will return, you’ll still have to clip your toenails in six months and 2021 is coming…soon.

As Thomas Paine suggested: “These are the times that try men’s souls.” No doubt, you will never pass this way again, so take advantage of this Coronavirus Crossroads.
For years, your parents and grandparents have told you about their hard times in The Great Depression, World War II, the ’60s and ’70s and even 9/11. How they had to help themselves, change their approach, take care of their family and make it on their own.
Now it’s your turn!
Look friend, now is the time. Seize the day! It doesn’t matter where you are in life, how old you are or what your finances look like. Really. Act as though the ending of this crisis is all on your shoulders. What do you need to hear from God?
Time for media social distancing?
Regardless of your viewpoint of today’s media, you cannot argue that bias, preference or even prejudice do not exist. Across the board. The truth has become so distorted we can hardly recognize it when it does walk into the room.
Strip away the job, friends, even family, your church, your hair color — along with other identifying factors — and you take away the facade that you’ve created over many years likely.
What are you left with? You, just you!
Globally, economically, medically, politically and perhaps even more importantly, emotionally and mentally, things have changed. For this generation, this is our Great Depression, our Kennedy Assassination, our World War II, our Vietnam, our Civil War. Each of those life-changing events wrought great transformation for those generations and this is no different.
Now is not the time for major political or social statements. Yes, we are in uncharted waters but let’s stop with all the wild imaginations and long-gone Facebook chains.
The times in which we live call for serious and meaningful pursuit, dependence on a true God, and the cutting away the clutter and shallow murkiness that is lukewarmness.
America is turning a corner in a course-correction that has been coming for quite some time. Disease, quarantine, politics and trillions of dollars from an already-broke government will force changes. Don’t get comfortable. Expect, anticipate and prepare for the coming changes.
