The bell hasn’t rung, so hang on just a minute!

Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.

Harvey Mackay.

Come on now, you’re acting like a kid in third grade watching the clock nervously waiting for the bell to ring so you can go out to recess!

No need to get giddy, your coronavirus staycation isn’t over just yet.

Moreover — and this may be uncomfortable for some — God isn’t through with you. He either has something else to say to you or, could be, maybe, you haven’t heard what He said the first two times around the mountain. Ah oh, now he’s done stopped preaching and gone to meddling, you say.

Well, let’s face it. You had some nice downtime to catch up on your rest, get a few things done around the house and then, that cabin fever set in. You started to feel a little claustrophobic and that led to becoming agitated, irritable and even fussy. Then, you started climbing the walls.

In this fast-paced, can’t sit still, short attention span world we all now inhabit, we often miss what’s going on right under our noses. You can see the beauty of the mountains in the distance, but you don’t even notice the roses blooming three feet away in your front yard.

As I’ve mentioned before, there’s no better time to evaluate where you are in life than right now. The vacation is over, now what? Yes, I know you feel a little naked these days without your job, getting out for parties, heading off to church or just hanging out with friends, but this is where the rubber meets the road. Right here, right now.

Look, you’re not getting out of coronavirus jail this week or probably not next. Truth be told, the bell may not ring until sometime in May, perhaps June. When you look back at this time in five to 10 years, what will you say you learned? What did you change about your life? How were you able to influence others to live better lives? Did you just pass the time twiddling your thumbs, or did you listen quietly, reflect, make adjustments and prepare yourself for the next chapter?

Yes, hang on just one doggone minute! Seize the day! Take charge of the moment! Stop looking at the mountains and smell those roses!

Emily Dickinson said that “forever is composed of nows”. A few years later, Mahatma Gandhi said: “The future depends on what you do now.” They’re both right!

Look friend, now is the time. It doesn’t matter where you are in life, how old you are or what your finances look like. Really. Act as though the ending of this crisis is all on your shoulders. What do you need to hear from God? Who do you need to make amends with, encourage or help? What preparation for the next six months, year or five do you need to make today?

Honestly, if you went back to work today, you’d be complaining and griping inside a month that you don’t have time for this or can’t find time to do that.

Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.

Jim Rohn.

Here’s the most important thing you can ask yourself: What is God trying to say to me today? Answer that question and you’ll answer your biggest frustrations and your most difficult challenges.

But perhaps most significantly, you’ll likely find the answer to your most troubling, bothersome fears.
