Tear up that list and just go do it!

“The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives.” ~Albert Schweitzer.

Everyone has a bucket list. Everyone has a dream. Everyone has a goal.

You may want to take a trip around the world, accomplish a great feat, create or invent something. Or, you may simply want to live a better life, go back to finish school or do that something you’ve always intended or wanted, but just didn’t pull the trigger.

Unfortunately, too many people never check off those boxes. In fact, many people just never try, giving up before they start or never having the motivation. And those things die in them before they die. Benjamin Franklin said: “Some people die at 25 and are buried at 75.”

How do you live that bucket list or fulfill that dream? Well, first you need a list. So, if you don’t have a bucket list, a goal, a dream or something you’ve always wanted to do, then stop here and make that list. Seriously, you have no reason to read further and frustrate yourself.

You can start here and make your list. Read this first!

Come on, it’s time to get started!

Remember, you can’t steal second base if you keep your foot on first base. Your list is like any list. The best way to start it is to just jump in. Rip off the band-aid, get rid of the safety net, move past the point of no return. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do — whether it’s painting the house, starting a garden, taking a trip, exercising, changing jobs or restoring an old car — it will never get done until you take the first step.

What can you do today — TODAY! — to start the process? And what next step can you take tomorrow or the next day? Because you don’t have the money today doesn’t mean you won’t tomorrow. If you hate your job today, what are you doing to look for another one? Do you have a place picked out to start your garden? Do you know which vegetables or fruits you’ll plant? Come on, get started!

Fear doesn’t exist anywhere but in the mind. ~Dale Carnegie.

Fear is all in your mind! If you’re like the rest of us, you can come up with all the reasons not to follow your dreams or complee a project or bucket list. Pastor Brady Boyd has it right: “The worst thing you can imagine never happened.”

Think about it. What is your greatest fear right now? Not having enough money? A spouse leaving you? Not having any friends? Something happening to a family member? Always being stuck where you are in life?

Make no mistake: These fears are born, nurtured and cultivated in the mind. Yes, you can outthink yourself! As I’ve written earlier, It’s all in your head baby!”

In fact, Joyce Meyer essentially says you have a choice: “You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.”

You have a choice: Fear or faith! In fact, why don’t you take Brady Boyd’s thought and turn it around: “The best thing you can imagine will happen!”

Author Jack Canfield believes you should have a can-do attitude: “For every reason it’s not possible, there are hundreds of people who have faced the same odds and succeeded.”

I’m not good enough or talented enough.

Friend, you have to be like the fans of the 1969 New York Mets. Ya gotta believe! All the odds were against the Mets when they began the season, but as the momentum built, as the players began to believe they could, fans jumped on the bandwagon and the Mets became the World Series champions.

You were created to be an answer. You were conceived to be a champion. You were designed to be unique and the one and only.

You aren’t good enough? You can’t make it happen? You don’t have the talent? I’ll tell you like Charles Stanley used to tell his kids. “Whatever you and God decide about that, I’ll be fine with it!”

There are many reasons you can come up with to not take the first step to your dream. I can refute them all. Heck, you can refute them all. Honestly, this isn’t a hard subject. It’s not rocket science.

Most often, people don’t succeed or fulfill their dreams, visions and goals simply because they don’t pull the trigger. They let fear and failure take root and convince them they won’t succeed.

You probably have a long list of reasons you can’t reach your goal or you can’t fulfill your destiny. Take out the list and tear it up! Don’t worry, if you ever need it again, you can re-create it in short order. But here’s the deal: If you ever take that first step, you won’t need the list again.

By now, you should know what your dream, vision, goal or bucket list is. It’s just a matter taking the first step. Let’s go!
